# Glossary

> Terms used throughout Watchtower.

**Workspace** `concept`

A shared space with role-based membership that scopes your connected repositories, environments, and test source. See [Workspaces](https://docs.watchtower.systems/v0.7.0/guides/workspaces.md).

**Role** `concept`

A member's level of access within a workspace: owner, admin, member, or viewer.

**Default workspace** `concept`

The workspace every account starts with automatically. It can't be deleted.

**Test source** `repository`

The single connected repository Watchtower scans for Playwright or Cypress spec files to build your Test Center inventory. Other connected repositories can still get Watchman analysis without being the test source.

**Sync** `action`

The process of scanning your test source and reconciling Test Center with what's currently in the repository, adding new tests and marking removed or renamed ones as abandoned rather than deleting them outright.

**Patrol** `feature`

Watchtower's test-runner workflow. Starts a Playwright or Cypress run, streams results live, and syncs outcomes back into Test Center.

**Watchman** `feature`

AI-assisted analysis that reviews pull requests and commits in a connected repository against your existing test coverage.

**Environment** `concept`

A named target you test against, such as staging or production. Configured under Codebase settings and usable as a filter or a Patrol run option.

**Priority (P0–P3)** `field`

How critical a test is to a release: P0 (Critical/blocker), P1 (High), P2 (Medium), P3 (Low). P0 and P1 results feed the Go/No-Go verdict.

**Status** `field`

A test's current outcome: pass, fail, blocked, or pending. Set automatically for Patrol-controlled tests, or manually for others.

**Quarantine** `action`

Removes a test from your release-health rollup without deleting it, useful for a known-flaky or known-broken test. Clears automatically the next time the test passes.

**Abandoned test** `state`

A test whose original title no longer appears in your repository, usually after a rename. Watchtower preserves its history and comments and lets you rebind it to the new title.

**Archived test** `state`

A test hidden from Test Center because its repository is no longer the active test source. All of its history and status is preserved, and it returns automatically if that repository becomes the test source again.

**Unlink / Relink** `action`

Detach or reattach a test in Test Center from its matching spec file, applied as dashboard-only tracking, a GitHub pull request, or a direct commit.

**Dashboard-only mode** `concept`

An Unlink/Relink applied to Watchtower's tracking only, without editing the repository.

**GitHub PR mode** `concept`

An Unlink/Relink applied by opening a pull request. Nothing merges until it's reviewed and approved on GitHub, and Test Center's tracking updates once the pull request merges.

**GitHub direct-commit mode** `concept`

An Unlink/Relink applied by committing straight to the repository's default branch, without a pull request.

**Release Readiness / Go/No-Go** `indicator`

A GO / NO-GO verdict on the Dashboard, computed from P0 and P1 results in your most recent Patrol run.

**No tests ran** `state`

A Patrol run outcome where the suite or grep filter matched nothing, or every matched test was skipped. Shown separately from a failed run.

**Trash** `feature`

Holds deleted tests for 30 days so they can be restored, before they're automatically purged.
